An individual who spiked candy with sedative and provided them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offences against two boys aged between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight minors and an older person became sick at the location in the summer month.
The elderly man, from that region, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he disputed one particular crime he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a further hearing on late November.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She said his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.
The man played a "candy game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge the defendant had engaged in this activity with the children "over an extended period", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She stated Ruben had been able to explain this repeatedly as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his family member had worries about the activities, justifiably.
"They decided to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel stated items including infant oil, ointment and medical needles were discovered, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant went on to play the "candy game" with six youngsters that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she continued.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was examining law enforcement's management of the events.
The legal representative stated the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the authorities again.
She stated the man then played the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
